Ephesus

Stuff we have seen and done: I love this place too. It’s just beautiful. But the drivers and driving in Turkey is fast and scary and not sure if anyone obeys a speed limit or stays on their side of the road.

• Hot Air Balloon – this was wonderful. We flew over the Pammukale thermal pools and they looked amazing. We did a lot of tours in Turkey, for everything we wanted to see. No driving just taxi’s and tours.

• Pammukale Thermal Pools: History Bite: The Turkish name refers to the surface of the shimmering, snow-white limestone, shaped over millennia by calcite-rich springs. Dripping slowly down the mountainside, mineral-rich waters collect in and cascade down the mineral terraces, into pools below. Absolutely, stunning. Never in my life seen anything like it.

• Hierapolis Ampitheatre – This ancient Roman amphitheatre with a seating capacity of 12000 is a huge architectural masterpiece and was once used as an arena stadium, field and theatre. Combine this visit with the thermal pools and its a great day.

• House of Virgin Mary: History Bite: Mary, mother of Jesus, that supposedly spent the last years of her life in Ephesus. According to this tradition, Mary arrived at Ephesus together with St.John and lived there until her being taken to heaven.
