Wellington
Stuff we have seen and done: Also called ‘Windy Wellington‘. We usually only come here for a day if we visit but it’s a lovely city just windy and a lot of hilly climbs so wear good walking shoes.
- Beehive – this being the place of government, definitely do a tour of parliament.
- Te Papa Museum – see here a lot of Maori culture and the culture of New Zealand. It’s a beautiful museum.
- Wellington Cable Car – a ride through nature but also some beautiful views, especially at night.
- Mt Victoria Lookout
- Weta Cave – a global award-winning movie-making tour. Explore interactive and immersive make-believe film sets, focusing on the worlds of horror, fantasy and sci-fi.
- Wellington Waterfront Walk – for a stroll and ocean breezes. It is cold and very windy in Wellington so be mindful to dress warm.
- Wellington’s Half/Full day, Lord of the Rings Tour
- Red Rocks Pariwhero
- Kapiti Island (not far from Wellington)
- Snorkel the Marine Reserve
- Do a Manu (Maori for a water bomb) – off any jetty.
