Stuff we have seen and done:

• Hobbiton Movie Set Tours – absolutely enjoyable and fascinating visit to a farm where this movie set design is embedded into the countryside. An absolute must when coming to New Zealand. We went on a wet day and had a drink at the famous tavern which is a bonus with the tour. So enchanting. So beautiful.

• Wairere Falls – to the northeast, a trail leads to the falls.
• It’s quite amazing what you find when you go off trail. We randomly found a cave on a farmer’s property with glow worms, so keep your eye out for homemade signs, signposting some random adventures.
• Matamata Food Market – because of the orchards and dairy in New Zealand, enjoy the markets and fresh produce that New Zealand is famous for.
