Amsterdam

Amsterdam is the capital of the Kingdom of the Netherlands AND a beautiful beautiful place.

Stuff we have seen and done:

  • Anne Frank House:History Bite: for 2 years this acted as a hiding place for Anne and her family. The Secret Annex has been preserved since 1957 serving to preserve this history.

Do be aware:

  • you must book in advance
  • it is a small space so there is a line going through
  • you can’t sit or touch much of anything in the house
  • be respectful and reverant as it is a moving experience

 

  • Van Gogh Museum – book in advance is a must. Love love love this museum dedicated to Van Gogh’s work. Largest collection in the world.
  • Rijksmuseum – the National Museum of the Netherlands, famous for its incredible collection of Dutch masters including Rembrandt and Vermeer.
  • City Canal Cruise – because Amsterdam is full of beautiful canals.

Off the Beaten Path:

  • Rent a bike and go for a ride around the city because everyone does and it’s such a Dutch thing to do.
