Paris

Stuff we have seen and done:

• Pont des Arts: Love Lock Bridge – pedestrian bridge located over the River Seine. There is a long standing tradition of lovers putting a lock on the bridge. It is illegal now because the weight of the locks are too much to bear. But it’s such a wonderful, romantic place. NB: We grabbed an electric scooter and scootered there, that is another option for this beautiful city.
• Eiffel Tower – goes without saying. You can walk up the few
• hundred steps and pay Less or pay More and take the elevator.
• Louvre Museum – the pyramid serves as the main entrance so it is not hard to miss. It’s also picture worthy from this angle, from the example below …

• Seine River Cruise – an absolute must do. Up and down seeing all the sights of Paris and it includes on some a 3 course meal.
• Paris Catacombs
• Arc de Triomphe: History Bite: Napoleon I commissioned the triumphal arch in 1806—after his great victory at the Battle of Austerlitz (1805)—to celebrate the military achievements of the French armies. So, buy a ticket and go to the top and get a great view of the city.
• Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris: History Bite: Construction began in 1163 on Île de la Cité, under the reign of King Louis VII, and the cathedral was largely completed by 1345.
• Pantheon Monument – it is free.
• Place de la Concorde – it is the largest public square in Paris & the spot of the French Revolution’s Guillotine executions.
• Basilique du Sacra Coeur – there are views and musicians and a beautiful place to chill on the steps.

Places we stayed:

• Around Paris and France there is something called “aires de services”. These are available for wild campers with campers or a car. We stayed in these the whole stay in France. They are great and some have food services open till very late and gas at the same time. We stopped a few times around Paris to dry our washing in our camper, we used the trees and branches as our line – the things we do to travel :).

Off the Beaten Path:

• Shakespeare & Company Bookshop
• Tuileries Gardens
• Pont Neuf – interesting because Henry IV ordered it to be constructed in 1578 & grotesque faces decorate the cornices.
• Pere Lechaise Cemetary – Jim Morrison is buried here as well as others around him.
• Montmatre – so many amazing artists all paint and gather here. You can get a painting or a caricature from super amazing artists.
