York
Stuff we have seen and done:
York: Founded as a Roman City in 71AD, Constantine was also declared Emperor here in 306. So walk through these beautiful streets with medieval architecture and and go back in time.

- Shambles: History Bite: Odd shaped buildings which are too cool and medieval shopping streets. Originally a street of butchers’ shops, you can still see some of the meat hooks outside the shop fronts.
- Harry Potter Store: For Harry Potter fans you will love this store.
- Jorvik Viking Centre: History Bite: Well preserved remains of a Viking city are found within this museum, so take a carriage ride through the dioramas depicting Viking life, and enjoy!
- York Minster (Cathedral): History Bite: Called a Minster because the term cathedral did not come into use until after the Norman conquest. It has Britain’s richest collection of stained glass and famous for its Five Sister Windows.
- York Castle Museum – I love Museums
- York City Walls: History Bite: About 900 years ago, the times we call “the Middle Ages” began –these were when the present Walls were built –mainly to protect York against the Scots.
- York’s Chocolate Story
- Cold War Bunker – during the Cold War, the threat of a nuclear war caused many people to build fallout shelters.
- York Maze – largest maze in the UK. It is a fantastic and fun day out with family and friends, if you can find your way out that is.
- Castle Howard
- Clifford’s Tower: History Bite: A 13th century tower and has a cool history that goes all the way back to the Dissolution of the Monasteries, the English Civil War & the Crusades and use to be a part of York Castle.

- Museum Gardens
