Salisbury

Stuff we have seen and done:

• Stonehenge (obviously!) – The scientists who all keep trying to guestimate on how these stones came to be here, and where they were carried from is fascinating to speculate on, but it’s just so cool to see a massive pile of stones standing upright :)
• Woodhenge: History Bite: Probably built around 2500BC – around the time as Stonehenge and another Neolithic structure BUT we went here too and it’s not crowded or charged for viewing. YEA! Free stuff.
• Salisbury Cathedral – I’m a lover of churches too – obviously. Especially early English Gothic architecture. It’s so Notre Dame vibe – minus Quasimodo :)
• Old Sarum: History Bite: A site of the earliest English settlements in Salisbury. One of the largest, Iron Age forts in England too.
• King Alfred’s Tower (the real “Rapunzel Tower”):History Bite: Built between 1762-1779 it is believed to be the place where King Alfred the Great gathered his troops in 878, which would see him pitted against the Viking army.
