Oxford

Oxford – Called “The City of Dreaming Spires” and of course its prestigious University – Oxford, the oldest in the English-speaking world.

Stuff we have seen and done:

  • Oxford Castle and Prison – step inside and do 1000 years of time. Choose to walk up 100 steps or so and enjoy the view from the 12th century, St Georges Tower or just walk the old Norman grounds of long ago.
  • Oxford University Museum of Natural History
  • Christ Church Cathedral – it’s small but worth a visit if your a cathedral lover
  • Oxford Botanic Garden – I love me a garden or two :)

Off the Beaten Path:

  • The Best Bookshop in Oxford”, the Albion Beatnik Bookshop – sit and have a cup of tea (herbal for me) and maybe a scone and enjoy a book and view.
  • Wolvercote Cemetary (JRR Tolkien final resting place) – just outside the city centre
  • Unicorn (Vintage Shop) – the space is almost entirely filled with stacks of clothes and piles of vintage accessories and shoes for the keen shopper and costume lover.
  • Theatres and Companies
