Cornwall

Stuff we have seen and done:

• Tintagel Castle: History Bite: The site of Tintagel Castle has been inhabited at least since the late Roman period, and a community flourished here in the 5th to 7th centuries. In the 12th century Tintagel gained literary fame when Geoffrey of Monmouth named it as the place where King Arthur was conceived.

Something New:

• If you take a path from the ruins down to the ocean then you can swim out to a pretty cool rock. No one else was doing it but my husband and kids thought it was pretty different and mysterious looking.
• Wild camping is available too. We found a brilliant parking lot where we stayed for 2 days. It just requires becoming familiar with google maps and what look like non busy areas. Usually on the outside of the town or cities.

• Poldark Tours – for all those Poldark fans out there, which I am – you can imagine the characters in some of your favourite scenes.
• The Manack Theatre – an open air theatre set on the cornish cliffs.
• St Michael’s Mount – St Michael’s Mount is a tidal island that can be walked across via a causeway in low tide. The island consists of a township with a medieval castle and church. Here modern life meets over 1000 years of history.

Off the Beaten Path:

• Nanjizel Penzance – it is meant to be explored so explore away.

• Rinsey Cove – it’s got beautiful views and perfect for a bit of a romantic spot.
