Karnak

Stuff we have seen and done:

• Felucca on the Nile – it is so beautful during sunset and letting the water push through your hands, such a memory to make. All I could think of was – Napoleon and his men travelled down here.

• Karnak: History Bite: Dating back to 1392BCE, the temple was built on the east bank of the river to the gods, Mut, Amun and Khonsu.

• Mortuary Temple of Hapshetsut – 1478/72-1458 B.C.E. The queen who became Pharoah built herself a magnificent temple and one of many archaeological wonders that make up Ancient Thebes.
• Colossi of Memnon: History Bite: Two giant stone statues of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III, stand at the entrance of the ruined mortuary temple of Amenhotep. All have withstood the natural disasters. NB: Be careful I was coming down the steps too busy taking a picture from the vantage point and twisted my ankle and then a whole bunch of Spanish surrounded me. It was embarassing :).

Places we have stayed:

• Nile Valley Hotel & Restaurant – this was so perfect, just a few steps down to the Nile River to catch a felucca and cross over to the temples. Food up the top in the restaurant is really good.
• Tipping is common practice too.

Points to Note:

• Tipping is common practice here and much appreciated.
• You will be harassed and bombarded with people trying to sell you something.
• Some of the camel or horse guides can be touchy.
