Stuff we have seen and done: 

  • Climb over the Story Bridge: Located in the city of Brisbane, take a walking group tour and climb up the story bridge to an 80 meter summit.
  • Qpac or Lyric Theatre: Musicals or operas/ballets.
  • Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo: It is roughly 60 minutes out of Brisbane going North, but worth the trip. It’s a large zoo and requires a lot of walking to each enclosure so put your walking shoes on and enjoy the shows.
  • Mt Tamborine & Rainforest day trip
  • Saturday Markets – they are all around in Brisbane.
  • Mousetrap Theatre & Petrie Terrace – local Theatres and local shows – these are the best. This is one of many theatres.
  • Visit the Museums, local art galleries and awesome libraries in Brisbane City.
  • (from Brisbane) Glow Worm Caves – Tambourine Mountain. It’s not a very big cave but if you are nearby for the day, take a look.
  • Barbeques – these are found at nearly every park. It is a great day out for a bbq and swim and a park day.
  • Malls & Shopping – Brisbane has a lot of great malls for shopping.
  • Stradbroke Island: From Brisbane you can grab a tour.
  • Whale Watching Cruise with Lunch – Redcliffe has a whale watching tour from the jetty.
  • Planetarium – I personally love these places.
  • Gold Coast Australian Outback Spectacular Dinner & Show: From Brisbane it takes about an hour to drive there and it includes a 3 course meal if you so choose.
  • Brisbane Junior Theatre: Located in the suburb of Warner. Local theatre and performances by kids up to 18, performing all the popular musicals with really talented performers.
  • Boolboonda Train Tunnel (north of Brisbane) – Bat tunnel and lots of them. You can drive or walk but beware of the Bat droppings, they are kinda gross but so cool. The noise too, its screeching loud so be aware if you have sensitive ears. They fly all around the place too, it was super awesome with our kids.
  • Botanic Gardens
  • Mt Coot – Tha Lookout – it also has a dining experience up on the hill. It’s beautiful. You can also hike up to Mt Coot – Tha.
  • Ferries down Brisbane River
  • Wilson’s Outlook Reserve – this little stretch of green on the precipice of rocky cliffs carved by an ex-quarry and framed by the Story Bridge is one of Brisbane’s secret parks.
  • Eat Street Northshore – yummy food and fantastic entertainment.
  • Kangaroo Point Cliffs Park

Beautiful Beach Walks: 

  1. Esplanade Walk
  2. Brighton – has beautiful beach front walks with footpaths for biking or walking.
  3. Pelican Park – where you can be sure to catch the Pelicans chilling out.
  4. Woody Point – just beautiful for a breakfast or dinner vibe, with a seaside view.
